Tibet exhibition opens in Taipei

A month-long special exhibition on the culture, religion, life and political system of Tibetans living in exile was inaugurated in Taipei yesterday. The exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of the flight of the Dalai Lama and tens of thousands of his followers into exile in India.

Grant Vorster is celebrating the Fourth of July with fireworks on the lake today as a new citizen. Vorster, a South African optometrist at JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio, was sworn in on June 26.

Mark Thallander will be the guest organist at the 10 a.m. worship service July 12 at First Congregational Church, 128 Central St. Mr. Thallander had an arm amputated after a 2003 automobile accident. He wrote a book, "Champions," about his recovery.
